Compliance report 2020

At the Property Redress Scheme we take our responsibility to help raise standards in the property industry seriously. At times this means we need to take strong action against rogue agents.

Most of our members are compliant with our decisions. 78% of our decisions were fully complied with in 2020, which means consumers received the full amount they were owed.

When rogue agents don’t comply with our decisions we work closely with the National Trading Standards Estates and Letting Agent Team and local Trading Standards to take robust action. This has resulted in 44 members being expelled in 2020 and our biggest award was just under £20,000.

We will continue to work closely with The National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team to improve standards in the property industry.

Trading Standards

The Property Redress Scheme continues to work with the National Trading Standards Estate & Letting Agency Team to raise standards in the industry and we acknowledge the efforts that the Property Redress Scheme has made to ensure that they have continued to deliver a service to consumers and agents over the last 12 months or so,  due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected us all.  These have been unprecedented times. I welcome their continued co-operation to improve intelligence sharing to be able to protect consumers and safeguard honest businesses, and their determination to always keep improving and delivering.
