Compliance report

At the Property Redress Scheme we take our responsibility to help raise standards in the property industry seriously. At times this means we need to take strong action against rogue agents.

Most of our members are compliant with our decisions. In fact, just under 90 per cent of our decisions were fully complied with in 2019, which means consumers received the full amount they were owed.

When rogue agents don’t comply with our decisions we work closely with the National Trading Standards Estates and Letting Agent Team and local Trading Standards to take robust action. This has resulted in 62 members being expelled in 2019 and our biggest compensation award was £25,000.

We will continue to work closely with The National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team to improve standards in the property industry.

We support the valuable service that the Property Redress Scheme provides to consumers in the property sector. We welcome their continuing support and assistance in working with us to raise the standards in the industry, and for their co-operation in helping to take action against the agents who are not complying with the relevant legislation.
